Work Package 5: Prototype Development and Validation
Objective
Work Package 5 focuses on manufacturing and assembling the GeoS-TECHIS thermal system based on specifications from earlier project phases. The work package ensures integration with an existing pilot-scale thermal process, validating the prototype’s functionality and evaluating its performance for industrial heating and cooling applications. The goal is to meet or exceed key performance indicators, demonstrating the system’s effectiveness and compatibility with real-world requirements.
This phase is critical for translating research into a tangible, tested solution for sustainable energy systems.

This will be achieved through the following activities
T5.1 Manufacture of Innovative Thermal System and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), M10 – M36, Leader: Ceo2 Green, Participants: SINTEF, ITG
- Produce and assemble the GeoS-TECHIS thermal system prototype, incorporating custom components and advanced control systems.
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) to ensure the prototype meets safety and performance standards.
T5.2 Integration of Thermal system in pilot site, M10 – M36, Leader: KAUMAN, Participants: Ceo2 Green, ITG
- Install and integrate the thermal system at the pilot site, ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure for heating and cooling processes.
- Configure the system to operate alongside current energy systems while optimizing performance.
T5.3 Operation Testing and Performance Evaluation, M10 – M36, Leader: ITG, Participants: KAUMAN, SINTEF, Ceo2 Green, University of Stuttgart
- Test the prototype under various operational conditions, evaluating heating and cooling performance and overall efficiency.
- Analyze results to ensure alignment with project goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Deliverables:
- D5.1 GeoS-TECHIS Thermal System Prototype Produced and FAT-approved (M24, Ceo2 Green): A fully assembled and factory-tested prototype, accompanied by technical documentation and testing procedures.
- D5.2 GeoS-TECHIS Prototype Implemented in Industrial Process (M27, KAUMAN): Documentation of the system’s integration into the pilot site, highlighting key adaptations.
- D5.3 Results of the Test Campaign and Recommendations for Future Designs (M36, ITG): Analysis of test results, including recommendations for future improvements and broader applicability.
